Chris and I spent a week camping and mountain biking in the Kootenay's. We drove almost 2000 kms.
Here's a few photos:

Osoyoos

Christina Lake (too cold to swim)

Chris' campsite - see the tarp hanging - ready to spring into action at a moment's notice?? Yes, he was a Scout leader back in England - always prepared!

Our first bottle of plonk, we stopped in Cawston and did one vinyard and fell in love with a 2003 Merlot. Yummy!

Lunch break at the lake and I was a little nervous to say the least. We had seen bear doo-doo, we'd heard that the bears were very active this spring and we had some fancy backpacking lunch - TUNA & Crackers......and then I got to carry the garbage back to the campsite. I was like a bear magnet but THANKFULLY, we saw no bears :-)
I drove Chris 8km up a dirt road to drop him off for this black diamond downhill ride. I picked him up at the bottom and he was in one piece although his bike was broken - but nothing major ohh no, only the "thing" that holds his back end together!

The view on the way into Rossland (the land of Mountain Biking)

This is me coming down a steep section of the trail in Rossland. I did it 3 times so that Chris could take my photo - how proud was I, eh?

Rossland has a bike skills park and I got to play on the blue runs (just like skiing/boarding) I didn't try any of the black, double or triple black diamond tricks.

Our campsite in Rossland - Chris making some technical adjustments.

If anyone was wondering where the Incredible Hulk is.....I found her!

Vanessa, you really don't update your blog often enough but ... WOW! When you do, it's always spectacular! Great photos. I love it how you went down the hill three times to get the perfect shot. As for being a bear magnet and the incredible hulk - too funny! Chris did a great job with his close up arty photo. Glad to hear (and see) that you both had heaps of fun.
What beautiful photos!
You two look like teenagers bumping around on your bikes!
Looks like crazy fun!
And you were in Osoyoos, my Grandma lives there! You coulda stopped in and said hello!
V - thanks for the update - FINALLY!
Wow, that looks incredible. Doing that ride 3 times for the photo - no wonder you came back smaller. BTW I am going to put your name in for membership in the "Itty Bitty Titty Committee". If you keep getting smaller, you won't have to worry about being bear-bate - they like meat, not bones.
For future reference, my Uncle Bernie (avid hunterman) once told me that if you are going to have a bear encounter, you are better off with a Grizzly than a Black Bear. Apparently the Black Bear will kill you outright, whereas the Grizzly is more apt to maul and mutilate you and leave you for the maggots to season before they actually eat you. Remind me to tell you my dad's elk and grizzly story. Y
